Welcome to Throttle Journal, a motoring blog for people who want straight answers about what cars really cost and how to look after them.
Why this blog exists
Most car websites focus on launches, rankings and opinions. The everyday questions get less attention. How much will this loan really cost me? Why is my mileage lower than the brochure says? What changes if I fit bigger wheels? Is an electric car worth it for the way I drive?
I started Throttle Journal to answer questions like these in plain language, with real numbers you can check for yourself.
What you will find here
- Free calculators for car loan EMI, fuel cost, mileage, total cost of ownership, and EV vs petrol vs diesel running costs.
- Guides and explainers on buying, financing, running and maintaining a car.
- Worked examples with the figures shown, so you can follow the maths and try your own numbers.
Every calculator comes with an article that explains the formula behind it, because a number you don’t understand is hard to trust.
About the blogger
I’m an independent blogger who writes about cars and the money side of owning them. I choose to keep my name and location private, so the blog is judged on what matters: whether the information is accurate, clearly explained and useful to you. Anything you read here you can check, because the formulas, assumptions and sources are stated on the page.
How I write the content
- I show my working. Formulas and assumptions are stated, and the calculators use the same maths as the examples in the articles.
- I label estimates as estimates. Fuel prices, interest rates and resale values change. The tools give a guide, not a quote.
- I check facts before publishing, using manufacturer documents, official sources and my own calculations.
- I fix mistakes. If you spot an error, tell me and I will review it and correct it.
A note on independence
The articles are written independently. The site may show advertising and may include affiliate links, which can earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This never changes what I write or recommend. You can read more in the Disclaimer and Privacy Policy.
